Year Two - An Ex-pose-ay! (Part 1, the "But Seriously, Folks" portion)
A friend of mine asked me what I think has changed about me in the two years I've been in LA. These sort of questions, the kind that make me shine a light directly into my own life and see what's shiny and what's still dirty...ultimately make me nervous. I feel like whatever I have changed maybe isn't as great as I thought, and what is discovered is the ways I have to go to get to where I am headed.
So let's think about how I have changed in these two years...
I think I have ultimately grown a lot more patient, and now feel, even amidst various struggles in life, a quiet calm among the chaos. It's very new, and thank God for it.
I am learning how to confidently enter new situations. This might be easier from temping so often, I'm always thrown with a new boss, and have to learn to communicate with them. Plus, in new situations and friendships, I just want to get to a deeper level and build authentic trust, and that comes with time and comes with more confidence.
I am becoming more confident in my role as a Christian, that is, in living my faith, seeking His voice, and being obedient to what He wants me to be doing. That being said, I will be co-leading and assisting a new group at my church for new believers, people coming back to the faith, or just people who want to brush up on the basics. I spoke aloud about it being a necessity and found out such a thing was about to emerge and I was able to volunteer to help with it. I am very excited.
I can more clearly see myself for who I am and what I have to offer and share.
I am eager and hungry to perform comedy, which I thought would give me terrible stage-fright.
There is still, and will always be, opportunity to grow, and learn and experience new things, and I am still a work in progress, but its amazing to see how I have really changed in these two years.
I wonder what year 3 will bring?

I left my heart in Saugus, MA...
I write to you from Warner Bros studios where I am currently serving in a long term temp assignment as assistant to a new VP in the television group. I enjoy working here and right now I am actually trying to find a time that is good to jump in and tell my boss that I want to be hired full time. Because it would be nice to be able to finally say, yes, I know where my income comes from and now I can get cracking on the rest of the things I need to be worried about:
Writing spec scripts.
Writing stand-up comedy.
Finding the right person to read or watch one of these things, and say, she needs to EP/showrun her own show. Kabloom, I have an Emmy. Do you all see how much easier things would be if I had a full time job? Also I could pay my bills and avoid prison.
But I miss Boston dearly, more each day. Especially now that things are getting colder and the holidays are approaching and my home is there and my family and the friends I've grown up with and known for years and years and it's so comfortable and safe.
Right now in LA I am feeling a bit out of sorts. Yes, I know, my nickname should be, "Old News", but I don't know. I feel like I left my heart somewhere else because sometimes I feel so mechanical, like I am just trying to get by, trying to do the things that are expected of me, and to stay within a certain expectation so that I don't rock the boat or shake anything up.
I could continue but I'm going to stop. Miss you Boston. A place that is decidedly real.

Episodes of Shows that I Wish I Had Written
Hey y'all. I just wanted to be openly admiring of a random smattering of episodes of TV shows I have found fascinating, many from Childhood..
To kick off,
Even Stevens, "Influenza" - Ok, who has seen this and doesn't see the beauty? Perfectionist Ren suffering from the flu and dreaming that her life is a musical and that she doesn't have her science project completed. The whole thing culminates to one of the best songs, "We Went to the Moon", which is the science project in question. Any time I turned on Disney, this was on, and it was clever and fun and awesome. And who can forget little Shia?
Doug, Any Episode - I used to, and still, love Doug. My mom even said that one day I'd marry someone who had the characteristics of Doug, shy, introspective (I guess) Or maybe a guy with real skinny legs. I don't know. But either way I just really found Doug to be a likeable show, and he was definitely a relatable character. He had a crush, he had a big imagination, he wrote a journal. He loved The Beets. He had a band! Do I need to say more?
The Simpsons, "The Springfield Connection" - One of my all time favorite Simpson episodes, this is the one where Homer thinks he is seeing an extra terrestrial but it's Mr. Burns (Kill it!) As the Simpsons went from good to great to sucky to ok to good, this episode remains one of the best. Pimple faced teenager concluding the episode with "I'm Leonard Nimoy", Marge wearing a "Homer is a Dope" shirt, and of course the "Good Morning Starshine" singalong make this episode hilarious. Remember when there were no "misses", only "hits" when it came to the Simpsons?
The Wonder Years, "She, My Friend, and I" - This is my favorite episode of one of my favorite shows of all time. Paul dates Winnie, and finds out she likes Kevin. Kevin finds out he still likes Winnie when she starts dating Paul. He goes to her door, she answers ALL SMILES, and he blows it, and gets the door slammed in his face. Kevin and I are siblings from another mother.
I'm sure I have more, but I've been writing this for like, a day now, going back and adding more once in a while, so I'm just going to publish it.

The Ugly...
Heyo,
I just want to elaborate on "the bad" a bit more, since the fallout of the bad made it hard to sleep the night before I wrote the post, and therefore, made it hard to read the post. But ya, I can't keep an air bed for the life of me. A friend of mine is insisting that I must claw my bed in my sleep, or that perhaps I go to bed in a suit of armor. But last night I had a restful sleep. It was awesome.
Now, onto the ugly - and this is not about the pimples which sprout on my face on occasion. This is about my venture into the field of stand up comedy. Yes, I am writing stand up which I also have to perform, and I need to do this by Halloween, because that's the deadline I've given myself.
I love to make people laugh, I love to say things that people think are funny, but I realize how hard it is to write a real true joke. It's really hard. I can put lines into the mouth of Dwight Schrute like it's nobodies business, but when it comes to me myself getting on a stage and dazzling all with my wit, I barely know how to begin. So I am writing and I'll do it, and hopefully after I do it, I keep doing it, and hopefully the practice will make me good at it. But for me, this is a pretty ugly thing I'm getting into.
There will be a post entitled "The Rest" soon...but I hope you are enjoying my blogness.

The Bad...
I can tell you exactly what the "bad" is at the moment.
My beloved aerobed, whom I've shared some restful times with, is the victim of two holes. Count them, you can. Well, the first one was tiny and I patched that, and then a dime sized hole sprouted. And right now I am dead tired and achey after having slept..or "slept" on it last night. I woke up on the ground. Now I don't know if you've ever tried to balance on a ball of air and get sleep..but it does not work. Not effective in the least.
Anyway - so tired, so very tired. And I am going to a friend's birthday tonight so I need to be awake enough to be enjoyable for all.
I need a bed.
What could be ugly if that's just bad? Well, wait and see...

The good. The bad. The ugly. And the rest.
The good -
Right this second I am sitting at a reception desk at the Warner Bros Studio's Motion Picture Imaging Building, where I am working this week. It was pretty cool to get that call yesterday and it shows that things can change in an instant, where I thought I was returning to a vast wasteland of joblessness, I can save the drama. ;-) Everyone here has been really nice, and even though I do things tentatively the first time I do them, I pick up on details pretty quickly. I wanted to roam around Stars Hollow for a bit before I went back to work but there was a crew setting something up for something - pretty interesting.
Also, reception means I can jot down notes for my new writing project - see "The ugly" below. I bet you're already dying to know what it is.
Also, I decided to adopt a "life is good" policy. Or for some of you, I've decided to become another person altogether. I'm in a position where I can really love my life, and I'm going to do it. Ha!
The movie "Paper Heart" looks really good, I really want to see it. I love Michael Cera, and quirky comedies, and mockumentaries. Plus I'm totally one of those posers that wants to be like, "I saw Paper Heart, it was in Sundance. The film festival. It's so deep!" I eat peanut butter and fluff sandwiches. But I do eat them on whole wheat, so what's in a name, ya know?
I just returned from a trip to Boston, which was really good. Good to see family, and good to see friends. It's nice to be home when I can, and I do miss everyone. I saw my friend Andrea get married to Mark, the man we nicknamed "Husband" since day 1. It was a beautiful wedding and a great reception. They named each table after a place significant in their relationship, my friends and I sat at "Hugh O'Neils", which was the location of part of their first date, and also where we all nicknamed him Husband, later. EXCITED FOR THEM BOTH!!!
I'm tired of blogging. I'll continue with the bad and the ugly tomorrow...

Some True Facts About Jen's First Year in LA...
1. In my first year, I resided in three places. These places spanned about 3 square miles of each other. During this time, I had 5 roommates and 4 catroommates. I slept on one twin bed, and went through 2 Aerobeds and one foam pad before finally finding an Aerobed that wasn't funky.
2. In my first year, I have acquired the following free things from friends and such: Three baskets for stuff, two plastic tubs for storing things, a plastic shelf thingie, a bunch of hangers, a desk, a futon frame and a microwave. Coming up: Jen gets an entertainment center/bookshelf.
3. I was a page with Audiences Unlimited, I had an internship at a media company called Salient Media, I was a temp receptionist at Johnson Fain and Warner Home Video, and worked for two weeks at ABC as an admin assistant, as well as working one weekend as a script supervisor for Monica's film, being an actor for the script John wrote and being paid to revise Gen's webisodes. And I almost forgot, I volunteered at the Independent TV festival on Sunset, and got to see some cool panels about TV comedy and pitching.
4. Usher grabbed my shoulders as I blocked him from the kids who tried to get his autograph at the Kid's Choice Awards. Hugh Laurie looked me in the eye when I asked him a question at People's Choice Awards (and his eyes are so blue). I saw Windsor Harmon (One of the Thornes from Bold and the Beautiful) shopping at my Trader Joes. Felicia Day and Matthew Glave walked past me on occasion at CBS Radford. Jane Lynch I saw at Starbucks. Eric McCormick was outside in his yard when John and I walked by...
I saw Neil Flynn drive away, I missed seeing Christina Applegate walk by me. The cast of Gary Unmarried is very nice. Last but not least, I go to church with Tony Hale, Buster from Arrested Development and one of my favorite TV actors.
5. I went to the Gary Unmarried Christmas party after a taping of their show that I paged at. It was awesome.
6. Office Cast Members seen: None. But I'm working on it.
7. Writings: One full spec, random revisions or reworkings of things here and there, 40 pages of a feature romantic comedy.
8. Sometime in February or March, I walked down Hollywood Blvd, and someone was trying to get people to do something touristy and I was asked if I was visiting or lived here and I said, "I lived here." and it was the first time I realized that I did live here.
9. I have not been inside Amoeba Records my whole year. Nor have I eaten at Jack in the Box, Carl's Jr or Del Taco.
10. I have made some friends but I think a great accomplishment of the year has been strengthening the friendships I had with people who lived out here before I got out here.
11. I saw the CW pilots premiere at the Paley Center, saw the Samantha Who Q & A at the Academy for TV, saw a screening of Dance Flick in Hollywood, and have seen the very talented Dan Roberts, Kahle McCann and Daphne Lamb perform live.
12. I have been here for 3-4 earthquake tremors. One in July, and I was driving so I didn't feel it. One in January, and I felt like it was a truck driving by so that didn't count, one paging for 2 and 1/2 Men and I thought it was someone walking on the bleachers so that didn't count, even though Charlie Sheen felt it. In May I believe was when I was in my apartment, felt the earth move and knew that I was feeling an earthquake.
13. I had breakfast with Michael Warren the day after my birthday, September 2nd. If you don't know, he produced some of the great sitcoms of my generation, one being one of my still favorite sitcoms, Perfect Strangers. It was so great to have gotten a chance to have him as my Act One mentor, and even better to hear about his journey through the industry.
14. God is good.
And I might be spent but if you can think of any funny anecdotes of me in Hollywood, I'd love to hear them. hehe.

Oprah's a friend I haven't met yet...
Hey y'all. Who's reading? Show of hands? Well I put in a new template, it's called scribe, and I am a scribe kinda so it works.
So Monday of this week, yesterday, I paged the Oprah after Oscars special, which sounds a lot cooler than it actually was. I was envisioning Oprah greeting us pages, inviting us into her lives, telling us what to read and wear and think. Maybe giving us each a car. LOL, but then again I was half crazed with sleep since the call time was 5am. Basically, half of us processed at least a thousand people's tickets for the event and the other half counted and got them all onto busses to bring them to the Kodak theater.
Once the audience was safely inside, we got to wander Hollywood for an hour and a half, to come back and load them back to their cars later. So a bunch of us went to Mickey D's so I had some delectable breakfast. I love McDonalds breakfast, and i think it's only because it's a special occasion junkfood.
The day lasted 7 hours or so than I got to go home and rest. So it wasn't the glamorous day I expected but I still got paid and got to go into work somewhere.
When I got home I let my temp agencies know that I am available for the week.
Today I was a bit more proactive about the job search, as I got a tip to places who actually call people who submit online applications, so I did that. I also submitted a production resume. I am just praying about the next step because I know I am meant to be in LA for now, I just need to figure out how I am to earn the money.
Right now I am in the middle of editing my Office spec script to submit for consideration for a fellowship. Basically, if they like me and I get the fellowship, I am conditioned by the company to write for one of their shows. I don't know how good my chances are but there are a few more fellowships coming up in the summer, so my next spec will be submitted to both of them.
I have a new love, it's the show Lost. Thanks to my sister I finally got into it, I hadn't seen one episode ever before Christmas break, and then when I started to see the real structure of the show I moved pretty fast into the series. I'm only in Season 2 so don't tell me anything. Especially not where Walt and Michael are right now. I want to give Charlie a big hug.
I ordered a book two weeks ago and it should be in for me any day now. I ordered it from booknation or something, and it's called "The Sacred Romance", written by John Eldredge of Wild at Heart, etc. I am so excited to start it, but booknation sent it to me a week after I ordered it.
I want to read Twilight soon, but also I am looking for other novels to check out. I am thinking the new novel by Alice Sebold, who wrote "The Lovely Bones", a book I found absolutely captivating. Another novel I've loved has been "The Kite Runner". Of course both of the books I mentioned are extremely heartbreaking but if a book can make me care that much than I feel it says something about it.
Well that's about all for me. I hope you're reading, I hadn't been good at keeping up with this thing but I want to. It is a bit theraputic. And who can afford therapy these days? ;-)

And who can afford therapy these days? ;-)

Search for Pistachio Ice Cream in this Crazy Crazy World
In this Los Angeles land, there's no love for a lot of foods that I love on the east coast. Many things I can't find, such as the aforementioned ice cream, even though I really can't say I haven't found it because I only went to one place once.
The only other thing I really want to say about food is that it only occurred to me that a "fluffernutter", or a peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich, is an exclusively Massachusetts food. I was looked at like I had two heads when I talked of the delights of eating them in my youth. You are missing out, people. They aren't healthy but really, what's healthy these days?
So I just recently passed the 7 month mark of my LA adventure, and I finally have an apartment that is mine to really make my own, and it's pretty exciting. It has a front and back door so it's very home-like, and not impersonal. I can't wait to get some shelves and drawers in my room to really get things nice and clean. It's definitely a work in progress but this time I know I'm not necessarily going anywhere soon. Also I want some art for the walls. The place definitely needs some sprucing but there's time for that.
I'm still not really sure what the job front is bringing me. There's a huge recession right now so I decided to stick to the temp agencies, and I think things will be coming through soon, at least I hope so. One agency likes me, so I think I could be placed with them again any day now. Take it little by little.
I'm getting tired but maybe next time my update will be a little more interesting.

West Coast Wisdom, or Don't Be Like Jen....
Hello all!
So much has been going on and you guys deserve a lot more than this, but I realized, actually one week ago, today, give or take about 12 hours, that I'm not as smart as I thought I was.
This is my wisdom. Actually, this will only help people who wear glasses, so everyone else, go to imdb.com and look for pictures of Johnny Depp. You're welcome.
Anyway, now the four eyed folk...do not ever put your glasses down on a busy surface when they could possibly get lost or overlooked. This especially goes for your bed. There is no need for glasses to ever be on your bed, ever. And if you think a pair of brown glasses will stick out on a blue and yellow quilt, you're wrong. It will blend right in. Trust me. I'm a smart woman but you can't outsmart the forces of coloring.
To continue, if you have gone against what I've told you and put your glasses on your quilt, don't forget you did it. Don't walk around your room and then think, "I'm going to go lie down on the bed." Why would you do that? Did someone dare you? Because if you do it, you'll hear a distinct crunch. And you'll reach down and pick up two or more pieces of plastic that once helped you see.
Remember on TV, nerds would tape their glasses together? I don't know what that tape was made of but it was beyond my scope. What did somehow work, was taping each frame to my face. I was all, men, form an orderly line.
By the way, tape hurts ripping it off your face.
Another thing not to do is assume. If you would ever assume that plastic glasses could be melted back together, you'd be wrong.
So, many dollars later, after an eye exam, which I hate, I have new spiff glasses.
And yes, I may look cute in them, seeing as they aren't taped to my face, but still, I send this as a word of warning to all of you.
Be careful, the glasses you break may belong to you or someone you love.

Life really is comedy...
Hey people...
I just wanted to let you all know I got the job as a studio page for Audiences Unlimited. I'll be seating sitcoms being filmed in CBS, Warner Bros, Hollywood and other studios. I think it's going to be really fun and a great way to learn more about the field I'm trying to get into.
I just need another job to supplement that, and an apartment, and then I'll be all set.
But yay, God is good!

I'm living my dream, how do I make it stop?
Hello y'all.
It is Saturday, July 5th, at 8:28 in the morning as I set about starting to write this blog about Los Angeles. Yes, it's that early. Yes, I feel like it's almost noon. Don't you love the time change thing, doesn't it just make your heart soar into the sky like some sort of majestic bird?
The answer is yes. Right?
Today marks the second day of my new home, lovely Los Angeles. And even though it's early on, I still can't believe I'm really here. Like, I think back to when I was nineteen years old and trying to decide between being an English major and being a Communication major, and my friend Andrea telling me I could always write screenplays and I of course think, Sure I can, let's do that.
But I actually never thought I'd get here.
I come from a family where everyone has been happily living in the Boston area (with few and far between exceptions) and no one has ever had a pressing need to move. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Boston. In fact, there was one day this summer where I was standing on the steps of City Hall in Boston where it overlooks Fanueil Hall on one side and opens out to a street mere minutes away from the Park in the Commons on the other other, and I thought to myself, "I could really be happy living right here, right in the middle of the city. Now where's that million dollars I dropped on the floor?"
Actually, living in the really nice part of Boston is about as much as it will cost to live in the Burbank/Studio City/et al area in Los Angeles, which is where I'm planning to live. Right now I'm living temporarily with one of my dearest friends, Loni, who is really awesomely helping me during this time of uncertainty. When my dear friend Rachel arrives in a week, we'll be getting an apartment together. I hope her transition is going smoother than mine.
Ok, here's a little thing about me; about five years ago, I became a Christian. I'm going to get a little spiritual here, fair warning for those who may need it. In my last week or so of my move to LA, and now that I'm here, I'm feeling very uncertain and heavily attacked. There are so many certainties among all the uncertainties I will be facing, and I'm just feeling really uncertain and negative about, well, basically everything. I confess this to you, my reader (is that you, Mom?), so that you can offer me up a prayer, or just well wishes for my time of transition.
I do have an interview with Audiences Unlimited on Tuesday, it's a page company (basically an usher for live studio audiences). The opportunity was brought to me by another one of my dearest friends, John. I had been reluctant about being a page when I heard about the wacky and random hours of a different program, but this one would seem to have the hours to accomodate getting another part time job to round out that one. Then I could hope to pay rent and keep myself rich in saltine crackers and peanut butter. And Ramen.
But I should go now, it's almost 9am here in LA. You know what that means. My body thinks it's bedtime.
Bye folks!

A Blog When I Have So Much To Finish
Hey All!
First of all, if you didn't hear, I passed my portfolio and can now officially graduate!! So happy am I!
So I have a huge rhetoric of film paper due Friday and a huge American Cinema paper due Sunday. So what am I doing? Writing a blog, obviously.
I'm starting to get so overwhelmed with all the stuff I'm trying to do before I head out to LA, which, as far as my count goes, is about two and a half months. I need to buy a plane ticket, arrange to have my car shipped, sell furniture and books...and the list goes on, but yes, definitely I need some more money for this trip. Not trip, life. I know God is going to provide but I get nervous when it comes to money, always.
I think I need more sugar in my tea. Oh well.
The count for graduation is down to 19 days. Just 19 more days and I get to graduate. I'm excited that my mom, sister and brother are coming to see me, that will be good. My sister will even be here for the film festival on Wednesday, where we'll be premiering the 7 Minute Lull, which was a film we thought would never get made.
I'm good right now but I miss my friends who are away, always. Like, when I want to watch the Office or go to Panera, I really wish Loni was here. Or if I want to take a walk, I wish John was around. Luckily, I'll see all my homies when I get back to Boston. I say, "Let's have fun cheap times while I'm home." Because I'm poor. :-)
I don't really have a lot of constructive things to say, but I did want to post again.
I will have fun stuff soon, I'm sure!

First Post in 2008
Wow, I say I'm going to keep up a blog and the last post was basically about a December snowfall and "Oh how exciting that is." It would still be exciting , except a bit more...um...April. Anyway, I just wanted to let anyone who might care know that I'm updating with some fun stuff about me.
First of all, I just came back ( a few weeks ago, to be a bit more specific), from the Candlelight forum, which was this event in Los Angeles, CA, run by my school, Regent, and it's an alumni event for Communication students to network with industry. I totally networked with my best friends and the industry people I already knew, like Dean, Monica, and Thom, but I also met one of my heros, Tony Hale, who plays Buster on Arrested Development, one of my favorite shows. He was a real down to earth guy and he remembered me the next night.
Going back to LA made me long for it more, even though sometimes I'm really nervous and move to fictitious Waterbrook, a suburb in New England where i can find a cushy job, a husband and some kids, just like that. Of course, I'd have to trade in my Stratus for a mini van, for soccer season, but that's ok! (Waterbrook was invented when my friend forgot the name of the real place, Wakefield, that I said I'd live) (Another funny mispronounciation of a place is when someone called Wingershiek beach Washoobaba - I love my friends)
I am going to LA at the beginning of July though, and although I'm wicked nervous, and I'll miss my chowdah, I'm so excited of the challenges coming to me. I'll be staying with my friend Loni for a little bit while I'm looking for a full time apartment, and then I'll be living with my friend Rachel, which will be really fun. I'm glad I'll have my Regent loves as well as the great people I met at Act One to be there for me as I'm getting settled.
Tomorrow I meet with my committee about my portfolio, the scripts for the TV show I created, and the paper and story bible that go with it. A story bible is a sketch of the premise of the show, as well as characters, outlines, and my proposed first season. Tomorrow I find out if I pass or not. Pray for me or wish me luck for tomorrow at 11am.
Peace

It's Snowing, It's Snowing!!
Hello children,
It's snowing, and instead of like, doing something constructive; shoveling, moving my car, changing out of my pajamas...I'm just chilling, watching it fall and writing this message.
So, when I'm home, I feel like I shouldn't spend money going out and eating, but right now all I want is some soup from Panera, it's soup day babies!!! cream of chicken and wild rice, the perfect treat for snow. But I had the best treat for snow last night; Cheers New England clam chowder. The first really good clam chowder I've had in forever, because I keep testing chowders in Virginia and they just don't compare. Whenever I'd have a clam chowder I'd describe them as "subtle interpretations" because I'm generally a New England snob.
I just sneezed twice. Good for me.
So this past weekend I got to spend a lot of time with my Loni! We were roommates last year and then she had to GRADUATE. sigh. But she's one of my closest friends ever and I've missed her a lot. It was great, Friday we spent the day together, and then had a ladies night, and then went out with our friend Gray and the rest of the weekend, until I left Sunday night, we just hung out and watched TV and like, organized her new apartment. I drew a picture! It may be hanging in the Metropolitan museum of Art soon, so let's cross our fingers :-)
So Tuesday I drove home to Boston and the drive took 13 and a half hours and it usually takes 12...but it was even longer because usually I stop for lunch but this time I picked up some Taco Bell to eat on the road because I knew Connecticut people would be like, Hey let's stop and make traffic. Sigh. And then after much confusion I was eating with my dear Homies Ange and Amanda, and I met their friend , the incredible waiter Steve. It was a very good night, and I've missed my Homies dearly. I'll be seeing them tomorrow for lunch if not before.
there is a sale at New York and Company and I hear it calling my name! Fo sho!
Anyway, my friend from school Sarah is here, she's spending a few days in Boston and she's really digging the snow. Not literally, but that will be me soon, because I'll be needing to shovel soon, but I just want to look at it. But I must go and get going and stuff. There are things to be done!
toodle-oo.

This post is completely dedicated to coffee.
Hey guys,
I hope I haven't scared you off. Anyway, I'm going to chat about coffee for a while, the best coffees, the worst, etc. Come join me.
1. Dunkin Donuts Iced French Vanilla with Milk and Sugar - This tops the list of love. It is everything you could ever want in a coffee, if you get it from the right Dunkin Donuts. Of course it was much better before, when Dunkin Donuts brewed French Vanilla coffee, now it's just regular coffee with French Vanilla flavoring and it's not the same. Still, it's a lovely treat and I love it.
2. Starbucks Iced Nonfat Peppermint Mocha, no whipped cream - Now, if Dunkin Donuts ever found out I was having a love affair, it would kick my butt. Still, this holiday coffee is so good, I feel like i almost deserve it. What is best is that, since there's no fat, you can really taste the mocha and it's like, an almost grainy cocoa drink, and I love texture. still, it doesn't have the same caffeine rush of the Dunkin donut's iced, but it's a flavorful delight for my mouth anyway.
3. Wawa Iced Peppermint Mocha - Totally a glorified chocolate milk, but I actually enjoy it anyway. It hits the spot, and it has peppermint and I love that so yeah, I totally can enjoy this beverage.
4. Mc Donalds Iced Coffee - It's not available everywhere, and they decide how much milk and sugar you want, and it's a lot, but stil, the French Vanilla is similar to Dunkin's , the only difference is the flavor of the coffee.
BTW I've been talking about iced coffees and never gave an actual favorite coffee, it's Dunkin donuts. Like, just the flavor of the coffee alone is so scrumptuous and yummy. It's rich, but it's nowhere near as rich (bitter) as Starbucks. Dunkin Donuts, man.
5. Burger King Iced Coffee - This sucks. It's totally chocolate milk and I felt like I gained five pounds just drinking it.
6. Dunkin Donuts Vanilla Chai Tea - Yes, it's not coffee but it's excellent, its a vanillay, cinnamony blend with tea and milk and they don't advertise it anymore, but it tastes ,"like Christmas", according to me.
Anyway, there you go, a little guide to coffees I enjoy. Most are iced, but where there is the iced, there is a hot equivalent that I would choose if I was in a hot coffee mood.
Peace

On behalf of The Santa Claus, I'm dreaming of a White Christmas!
Hey All,
I'm going to tell you guys in this entry about BLACK FRIDAY, the best shopping day of the year. MUHAHAHAHA!
So my friends Ange and Amanda and I set a plan in motion, stay up all night and go to Kohls for the 4am opening, Modells, a sporting goods store for their 5am opening, and 6am for the Target opening.
Andrea decided to join in the fun, she goes shopping usually too.
So after a delicious yummy Thanksgiving dinner prepared by Mom - a dinner of Italian favorites, stuffed shells, meatballs and sausage, and traditional favorites of turkey, stuffing (bread and meat), potatoes, corn, mmmm yummy and don't even mention the pies - after that , that night I went to Ange and Amanda's apartment down the street from me, and we, with Alpo and Ange's family, watched Elf. My first viewing of Elf this season, and I've already seen it again, gotta love Elf. Then it was time to put up decorations. Including my best friend, the Snowman with low batteries so it sings Frosty like this, "MEH MEH MEHMEHMEH..."
So great.
Then we hung out and ate pancakes and I taught Ange how to brew coffee. After an explosion. Heh.
Then after all our talking about staying up all night we all agreed to take an hour nap at 2. And then we woke up at 3AM ready to hit the stores, or hit ourselves for waking up so early.
We get Andrea, and Andrea and I share the backseat of Amanda's car with a questionable cooler, which I joked with Andrea and told her it had food but it didn't and it was too early for jokes.
So we get to Kohls at 3:30A, and there were people starting to form lines in front of the store. In front of Kohls. Seriously people, it's cold, let's wait for the doors to open and rush in!! I spent the next twenty seven minutes putting words in people's mouths, people who were in line, employees who were entering the store. According to Julio, one of the workers, there was a big sale on hoses.
The last two sentences were random but I was tired and i'm random normally. So at 3:57 they open the doors and we rush in, and we get some things, they had lots of sales on clothes and some random GPS devices and lots of housewares. But yeah I didn't find anything but you know what, it's about the fun! The fun! So we get out at 4:30 and the lines for the registers weren't bad. My mom left Kohls at 5 and the lines were around the corner of the store. Crazy.
Next we went to Modells, a sporting goods store and my friends all had things to buy but I didn't so I kind of wandered the store. But the best part of that store was Andrea seeing all these boxes and going, "Oh, they have ripsticks." and if they weren't so much, she'd buy one for her cousin. So we're all like, "what's a ripstick?" ok we probably said, "What the hell.." or worse!! Anyway, it's a weird skateboard...it looks like this:
www.ripstickusa.com
I can't do anything right, just see that link and see the wonder of Ripstick.
So, we took a detour because we thought we could walk right into Staples and get these super Garmin GPS's, but we were oh so wrong. But Andrea got her pencil sharpener, so we all took a sigh of relief. :-)
Then to Target. BADA! I heart Target. I bought a few things there ---for myself. Ooops. But I spent most of the time talking to people I worked with at times long ago. And I decided there should be no carts. NO CARTS. OH, and I talked to a random girl that was wearing the same shirt as Amanda. And I said weird things to her, thinking she was amanda and she seemed pretty scared.
So we left Target and we're so tired. And there haven't been GREAT sales, BTW. So Andrea says "Can we go to (name of store removed , just in case someone reads this) - to buy something" So we go to the mall and we get the thing and then Andrea is like, can we go to Victoria's secret - -so the three of us decide to go to breakfast in the mall - the Dunkin Donuts, while she goes to Vickie's.
And by then we thought of the Ripstick theme song - it starts -
RIPSTICK - BA NA NA NA! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING ON YOUR RIP STICK!
And then we sang all the functions of the ripstick we remembered. I got a chocolate chip muffin and amanda was hungry for food food so she got that at Burger King. Hey, to us, it was kind of dinner.
Finally we head home at 8am, and by then we're all overtired, so we're all singing the ripstick song, and Ange sang the song to random people from the car as we drove out of the mall.
Then I went home and went to sleep.
It was good shopping!!
Love yas!

My Defense
Hello World!
So today was a good day for the most part.
My portfolio defense was at 2pm, so I woke up at ten am so I could make notes, since I had to pitch my story to my committee, which was made up of my professors Doug and Dennis. I worked until 11am and watched Weird Al music videos and then British Sarah came by to tell me she signed her lease and will be my neighbor soon. I made her some tea and we chatted and then she took off and I got dressed all nice to have lunch at Regent and then go to my defense.
Before I left, I got encouraging messages from friends. My friend John called me not soon after I woke up to tell me that it was going to go really well, and my friend Maria texted me to let me know she'd be praying for me. My friend Loni texted too, and reminded me to breathe. It was really nice to be thought of, and it made me feel better. When I squeezed the tube of toothpaste, I felt my hand shake. I let Loni know that and she told me it would be fine.
So I went to eat and my friend April joined me and listened to my pitch and she liked the show. So that made me feel better. Then I went upstairs to wait for my committee. We all finally got together and I had to pitch my idea and it went well, they asked some questions and I had some new direction for where I'm going. It took about an hour, but I was so happy because they really liked everything and some things I was unsure of.
Then I left, and I bumped into my friend Maria and she took me out and bought me a coffee because I passed. That was fun, we had a good talk. Then I went home and went back to school, and then John and I took a walk and went to IHOP. And it was good but sad because it was our last dinner for a while. John is going to pursue his career in Hollywood and I'm so proud of him for doing so. I'm going to miss him a great deal though, he's really been a great friend to me.
After I got home I needed some comfort so luckily Maria came over for a few minutes and that was good. And then I downloaded some songs and updated my Ipod and took a little walk, and now I'm watching Friends and it's good.
Tomorrow I fly home to spend the holidays with my family and I'm really looking forward to it.
So it was a good day and now I'm excited to start writing my television episodes.
Stay classy, San Diego!
